The UK is the only country with an annual measured and published retail industry food waste figure, we have now updated this based on 2015 data. The 2015 figure is presented in a new BRC report on retail work to reduce food waste. This report contains case studies which detail how supermarkets are working to reduce and prevent food waste in the supply chain, at store level and retail operations, and within the home. It also highlights recent retail work on redistributing surplus food to charities.
