The Home Secretary has asked the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to review the shortage occupation lists (SOL). The MAC has agreed and will respond by September 2020.

As part of this process the Committee has issued a call for evidence, open for six weeks. The Committee has held a number of virtual events with key industry and sector representatives.

As laid out in the recent HRD call, I am interested in the following feedback:

  • What do you think are the main reasons for recruitment difficulties?
  • What, if anything, is your organisation doing to overcome the difficulties in filling vacancies?
  • How do you think the government should measure shortage?
  • Given the current definition of ‘shortage’, do you think any other factors should be considered?

I would be grateful for your feedback to inform the BRC's submission and if there any members that are making individual representations to the MAC and would like to BRC to echo their submission, please submit your suggested occupations along with any evidence you may have to tamara.hill@brc.org.uk by Friday 12th June.
