January 2020 ONS Retail Sales analysis
The ONS Retail Sales Index (RSI) for January 2020 published today showed that sales rebounded last month, with a year-on-year growth of 2.7% for Large Businesses in January (value at current prices, non seasonally-adjusted). This was a touch better than the 2.8% recorded in Q4 2019 and below the 3.2% for 2019 as a whole. The rebound was driven by both Food and Non-Food, consistent with the findings of the January BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor published on 11 February.
