role purpose:

Membership is the primary income source for BRC, and this role exists to support the growth and retention of membership income across our two corporate membership schemes: Retail Membership and Associate Membership.

Retail Members join BRC primarily to:

  • Influence government
  • Access technical support
  • Minimise cost increases
  • Benchmark performance
  • Protect their brands
  • Grow their networks

This is largely done through joining Communities; role-specific networks that create and share insight and thinking through calls, meetings and online content. 

The Membership Executive will play an important role in BRC’s efforts to acquire, engage and retail members.

Associate Members offers non-retailers the opportunity to reach and engage with retailers in the BRC Community. While sales and marketing of Associate Management sits with the Head of Commercial Partnerships, the Membership Executive will provide much needed customer service and administrative support to associate members.

This is permanent, full time role, reporting into the Director Membership.

The key accountabilities of this role are as follows:

Retail Member Acquisition

  • Proactive prospecting
  • Create generic collateral and bespoke briefs to promote membership.
  • Support the Membership Director and CEO as required 
  • Share news of member acquisition (and imminent renewal) with BRC colleagues via our internal newsletter, Scoop.

Retail Member Engagement

  • Onboard new members, identifying the appropriate communities for individuals in member companies.
  • Create Community Membership records in CRM.
  • Help members access and engage with the content.
  • Encourage BRC colleagues to connect with new members.

Retail Membership Retention

  • Monitoring and reporting internally and externally on engagement
  • Support the finance team with communications to secure membership renewals.

Associate Member Acquisition

  • Manage inbound leads from initial email communications to face-to-face (/MS Teams) pitches through to closing deals.
  • Work closely with the Partnerships Manager to maximise upselling opportunities.
  • Onboard new members, identifying the appropriate communities for individuals in member companies and brokering intro conversations with relevant community manager/s.
  • Produce and update marketing materials, including brc.org.uk and print collateral.
  • Support the production of email marketing to both promote membership and increase engagement.

Associate Membership Customer Support

  • Monitor, resolve or triage incoming enquiries from non-members and members.
  • Support the CRM Manager as required

Assist the finance team with renewals an

 SKILLS & INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:

  • The role holder will have proven experience of customer service, preferably with strong experience of satisfying both internal and external customers.
  • Some experience of the sales process and pitching is desirable.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously, whilst still contributing to a strong team environment
  • Highly personable and a confident face-to-face communicator.
  • Tenacious and a desire to exceed targets.
  • Experience of web/email marketing and a strong copywriter
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Competent user of MS software, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience of working with CRM systems preferably Microsoft Dynamics, web-based email (HTML) software such as Click Dimensions and website CMS.

SALARY & PACKAGE: 

  • Competitive base salary, plus attractive benefits package.
  • This is a permanent full-time opportunity (35 hours per week).  This role is currently home-based due to Covid19. When restrictions allow, the role will be London based with the flexibility to work from home for some of the time.
