Join this roundtable to discuss reforms to the current structure of business rates and understand the direction of travel for business rates on the retail industry.

It is no secret that business rates are a heavy burden for retailers large and small, online and physical. Internationally, the UK pays among the highest tax on property as a proportion of GDP. The recent Spring Budget announcement disappointed, doing nothing to support struggling high streets at a time when they are weighed down by skyrocketing business rates and Brexit uncertainty.

So, what does the future hold for business taxation and how can we get a fair and sustainable system? How should commercial property be taxed in an age of increasing online retail? Are there lessons to be learned from other countries?
