ABOUT OSS

OSS was originally founded as the Oxford Summer School by the Drapers Chamber of Trade in 1923. The trade members had identified a lack of retail specific development for their talented leaders. They were concerned about losing their best talent to other industries such as manufacturing, construction and finance. In order to protect and strengthen their sector they sought to create the highest quality development programme for the most talented leaders.

To ensure its quality the Chamber enlisted the support of top retail leaders and industry speakers to help shape the programme and create a unique opportunity for development by retailers for retailers.

This focus remains true following the acquisition of OSS by BRC in July 2019. We continue to collaborate with industry leading experts to provide programmes that challenge our delegates thinking and inspire them to realise their potential.
