A modernised, blended learning

The School comes from a rich heritage of the Oxford Summer School (also known as OSS Retail), spanning over 90 years. In June 2019, British Retail Consortium acquired OSS Retail as part of the Better Jobs campaign and our ongoing commitment to repositioning retail as a career of choice.

In 2021, the BRC Leaders’ Summer School has been rebuilt in response to the changing retail landscape and mega trends permeating our industry, and to guide retail leaders in driving change for a more resilient and greener sector. Because of various restrictions, the 2021 programme was delivered online via BRC Learning platform and ran from June to September 2021.

Next year, we are aiming for a blended format with residential events to ensure all delegates can fully benefit from networking within our community. 

The BRC Leaders’ Summer School offers two programmes: The Emerging Leaders (former OSS Foundation), and The Transforming Leaders (former OSS Academy). Both programmes leverage four themes that we believe will shape our industry — Profit, Planet, People and Purpose.

Who should attend?

The Emerging Leader programme is designed for those new in a leadership role, or those that have the potential to step into a leadership role within 12-18 months.

The Transforming Leader programme is designed for those already in a leadership role and with a proven track record of experience and influence. They may be responsible for a team or lead a function

Speakers

The programme is always led and hosted by a number of eminent industry leaders and influencers who come together to deliver this unique learning experience.
