Some of you have been contacting bed and furniture manufacturers recently to ask them what they are doing with regards to upholstered furniture products being sold into ROI.

There appears to be some confusion that there is no longer recognition in Ireland of the UK Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations due to Brexit? 

The Irish Department for Enterprise, Trade and Employment have confirmed that there is no change post Brexit on the position of acceptance of the UK Regs.

Their official wording:-

Many thanks for your email. As you say, in the pre-Brexit world furniture that satisfied the requirements of the UK Regs was also accepted as satisfying the Irish Regs and this position will not change post-Brexit. The UK and Irish Regs mirror each other in a lot of ways and Brexit has not affected this.
