Obligations for products containing MIT

MIT is in many water-based liquid consumer products, but is being phased out, and replaced with a non-hazardous class alternative (generally BIT). 

  • There have been issues with availably of BIT,  which has meant that the switch to MIT has been slower than hoped. 
  • This means there is likely to be considerable MIT containing products in stores come May 2020.
  • There is some confusion over the question of what happens to products already on the shelves 

    Does it need to be removed from shelves, relabelled, or can it be sold through as is?
