Read the BRC's submission to the autumn 2021 Budget, due to be delivered by the Chancellor on 27 October.

With retail's economic recovery from the Covid pandemic still fragile, our submission sets out the need for the Government to deliver on its commitment to reduce the business rates burden through the Fundamental Review and include CCJs in the scope of debt enforcement moratoria.

The submission also sets out policy recommendations which would allow retailers to realise increased benefits from the Apprenticeship Levy, alongside recommendations on a Plastic Packaging Tax, DRS, Net Zero vehicle logistics and tax-free shopping. Our submission also highlights the urgent action which Government should take to alleviate supply chain issues caused by the shortage of HGV drivers.
