A call for evidence on in-work progression has been launched by the DWP. It is seeking views on challenges to progression in low pay sectors, benefits of progression to employers and localities, and examples of good practice across the country.

The call for evidence invites views on the on the following:

  • specific barriers to progression in retail
  • impact of progression pathways and other initiatives on businesses
  • benefits of identifying and nurturing existing talent
  • the importance of progression for enabling and empowering people to change jobs
  • how to embed a culture of lifelong learning in the workforce
  • the role of Jobcentres in supporting progression
