BRC Learning have launched a series of 5 FREE interactive webinars:Exploring The Impact of COVID-19 – Recovery & Discovery through Community & Collaboration

Evelina Dzimanavičiūtė will join a community of retail leaders on Thursday 14th May as our first expert speaker. She will be exploring the impact of the pandemic on our lives and our leadership. Including how COVID-19 will affect the way leaders lead themselves, lead their teams and the approach to leadership in the future.

As a preview to her session, Evelina has provided us with her thoughts on The Leadership Evolution as we battle this pandemic.

Our changing world today is filled with uncertainty and insecurity.

It is a challenge for some, and opportunity to others – what makes the difference?

According to neuroscience, our wellbeing and the level of success that we can create in our lives and businesses doesn’t depend on what happens to us, but on how we respond to those events, and what learnings we take out of those experiences.

We think of ourselves as rational and intelligent human beings, but in reality, most of the time we are driven by subconscious habits, routines, and emotional impulses of our much older, reptilian and mammalian parts of the brain. Evolution shaped our brain to best respond to the world that we knew for millions of years, but what happens when the world as we know it suddenly ceases to exist?

Over a decade ago I found myself in a foreign country. I left family behind, I had no money, and worst of all – I didn’t even speak the language. I had a choice to go back to the safety of what I know or to find new opportunities to somehow start a new life here.

Charles Darwin once said that it is not the strongest, nor the most intelligent that survive, but the one most responsive to change. It applies not only to human evolution but also to individual and organisational success in our modern world.

Nothing changes if no one changes.

Every global movement, invention and innovation first started as a tiny seed of thought in one mind, one brain of a single individual. We should not underestimate the potential that each and every one of us has to make an impact. However, just like you cannot make the flower grow or bloom, you cannot uncover this individual potential without creating the right environment for it.

Our goal is to help you to find that stable ground underneath your feet, where you can plant your seeds for the future, water it with the right emotions, and shine a new light of knowledge on a current situation. While we cannot go out, we have a great opportunity to go in – to reflect on where we are, where are we going, and what trail of footsteps we want to leave behind. The fields of change are already here, but it is up to us what seeds we choose to plant in this new soil.

To bring order to our uncertain world today, surviving is not enough. Our situation requires leadership evolution to find unique solutions to yet unknown future challenges. How can we do that?

By building organisational capacity to thrive with change through individual resilience.

One brain, one mind, one idea, one small action at a time.
