Today the Government announced that it would be reviewing the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954 next year.

The announcement was slightly buried in the more immediate news of the extension of the moratorium on landlord debt enforcement, and so may not have garnered as many headlines. However, it is a significant announcement, and could herald a significant change to the structure and terms of commercial leases in the future.

No further details are forthcoming yet but the BRC will be actively engaged in discussions with officials, Ministers and others in the coming weeks and months to shape the future of commercial tenancy law.
