SPENDING POWER STILL UNDER PRESSURE DESPITE PICK-UP IN PAY
GDP grew by 0.6% over the three months to July (up from 0.4% over the three months to June), with services, retail in particular, and construction driving the growth; the construction sector grew by 3.3%, the highest since February 2017 and a nice recovery from the fall in the beginning of the year.
