Shaping debates and influencing the issues and opportunities that matter to the industry
Our priority campaigns
The Welsh retail industry is undergoing seismic shift. We are building momentum on the journey to better jobs.
Ensuring fundamental reform of business rates is recognised and acted on.
BREXIT IN WALES
Retailers and Wales as a whole benefit from an open, outward-looking and liberal approach to trade.
Our 3 Cs
Find out more about how we help the industry to remain competitive.
We work to support the industry's contribution to local communities, ensuring product integrity and building consumer trust.
From training and skills to employment law, we work with our members on all aspects of retail career development.
RAISING THE BAR ON BETTER REGULATION
We campaign for better and more effective regulation in the UK. Government efforts to reduce the flow and burden of regulation have included initiatives such as 'one in two out,' regulatory budgets and red tape challenges.
NEW GENDER PAY GAP REPORTING
Women account for over 60 per cent of the retail workforce, so our members fully recognise the value and importance of harnessing female talent within the workplace.
APPRENTICESHIP LEVY NOT YET FIT FOR PURPOSE
The levy is potentially an opportunity for increasing skills and supporting those most vulnerable in the workforce. However, we are concerned that the levy's implementation and how it will operate have yet to be properly thought through.
The BRC is an important, collective shield and advocate in uncertain times.
The BRC gives us an opportunity to benchmark and keep abreast with our retail colleagues, provides easy access to government policy makers, and collates an ‘industry’ view, which can then have influence and impact.
Marks & Spencer
Public policy is impacting on the retail industry on many fronts – without BRC membership it would not be possible for us to maintain awareness and influence the outcome.
Even when we only have limited influence on legal/regulatory changes, the early warning of change and ongoing updates from the BRC mean that we are able to plan our response with the maximum possible window.
