SPEAKERS
Rachel Pears, Associate Director, Responsible Business & Employment Counsel, RPC
Rachel is RPC's Associate Director of Responsible Business & Employment Counsel. As well as providing employment law advice to the firm, Rachel leads on the delivery of RPC's ESG strategy across the whole business. As a sandwich carer herself, Rachel knows first-hand the impact caring responsibilities can have on one's own health and career, and in 2024, Rachel spearheaded RPC's collaboration with Next100 Years and LawCare to publish a first-of-its-kind report on the state of caring in the legal sector.
Since then, RPC has partnered with Carers UK and its Employers for Carers programme, working to become certified as Carer Confident, and, most recently, Rachel was named 'Inspiring Leader' at the Carers UK 2025 Awards.
Zahra Lakhan-Bunbury, Account Executive, Carers UK
Zahra is an Account Manager at Employers for Carers, the workplace arm of the national charity Carers UK. She works with a broad range of organisations - including government departments, international retailers, and local authorities - to help embed best practice in carer support within the workplace. Zahra supports network leads and HR and Inclusion teams, contributes to learning and development programmes, and helps organisations evaluate internal processes and raise awareness of caring responsibilities across their workforce.
Before joining Carers UK, she practised as a qualified solicitor for over a decade. Her own experience of leaving her legal career to take on a caring role has shaped her commitment to building carer-inclusive workplaces across all sectors.
