IP Toolkit: Brand do's and don'ts and dealing with copycats - with RPC

IP Toolkit: Brand do's and don'ts and dealing with copycats with RPC

This Legal Community Meeting will cover an IP Toolkit developed by RPC, which is aimed at in-house legal teams at both new and existing brands. It will cover IP essentials when developing a brand, including how to create a 'good brand' from a trade mark law perspective, how to address registrability issues and other common pitfalls when building your brand portfolios. From brand development, we'll move to brand protection, covering how to navigate one of the biggest IP issues (and legal headaches!) for established brands; the exponential rise of copycats/dupes. Using recent case law, we'll walk through the evolution of copycats including the legal position relied upon and what the courts have focused on. We'll then end with a tipsheet of practical steps that brands can take to reduce risk and strengthen their hand in copycat disputes. Plus, there'll be plenty of time for Q&A.
