As the world marks five years since the pandemic began, BSI is launching an inquiry into the "Hybrid Generation" to understand how shifts in workplace dynamics in that period and since have impacted young professionals and the working world. BSI is now inviting individuals and groups with relevant experiences to contribute to this public call for evidence.

BSI’s inquiry will look at areas including job satisfaction, mental and psychological well-being, frequency of job changes, and earning potential, as well as skills development and career progression. The aim is to gain a better understanding of this cohort and identify actionable steps to enable younger workers to thrive, contribute effectively to their organizations and support the broader economy while prioritising their own growth.

With ONS data suggesting retail is the single biggest employer for those aged 16 to 24, with this cohort accounting for 13% of jobs, and those aged 25 to 29 accounting for a further 12%, BSI’s study will take a specific focus on those working in the sector, including those whose roles remain on site in an increasingly hybrid working world.
