We are currently planning a media campaign which hopes to collate localised retail crime data to raise awareness about the increase in retail crime in specific cities across the UK. To support this effort, we would need year-on-year data for incidents of retail crime in the cities detailed below.
The categories we are looking for include:
1) Violence and Abuse
2) Theft
3) Criminal Damage
We have also had feedback from members about a rise in Anti-Social Behaviour, if you have data or anecdotes on this to share, please share with Lara.
By providing this data, you will help us create a clear and accurate picture of the issue, which we will be using to write to local mayors, PCC's, and local news outlets. Your data will be kept confidential, anonymised, and will be used only for this campaign.
We are looking for crime data specific to the following areas:
• London
• Manchester
• Birmingham
• Nottingham
• Newcastle
• Liverpool
• Bristol
• Leeds
• Cardiff
• Belfast
If you can contribute regionalised crime data, please let Lara know at lara.conradie@brc.org.uk know. Deadline is 26 May.
We would also like to include additional anecdotal evidence of incidents from particular cities, including any case studies, or colleagues who would be happy to speak on the record about their experiences. This can also be anonymised.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide - let me know if you have any questions.
