Retailers are working hard to support their customers this Christmas. Here's how some of our members are helping their customers this festive season:
Asda
Kids Eat for £1: Extended ‘Kids Eat for £1’ offer in cafés and recently announced they will launch half price adult main meals in their café’s from 3pm onwards. More than 2.6m meals now served.
Winter Warmers: Restarted offer to people aged 60, who can enjoy soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffees for just £1 in any of Asda’s 205 cafes. 650,000 £1 soup meals were served last winter.
Price locks: Invested £130m in lowering prices. Most recently, this has reduced the prices on over 600 popular products by an average of 10.
Emergency Responders: Offering emergency responders the chance to grab a free cup of tea or coffee in over 330 Asda Stores, cafes and Express stores to help them get through their shifts during the colder weather.
Christmas dinner: Customers can stock up on frozen Christmas dinner essentials in advance to feed a family of six for just £4.17 per head. Products featured are on average 8% cheaper than last year.
Asda Rewards: Gave £73m back to customers through their Asda Rewards loyalty app in Q3, increasing the total amount that customers have earned in their Cashpots since Rewards launched last year to almost £300m. Will give customers a bonus of up to £5 for saving money in their Christmas Saver Cashpots.
Currys
Price Matching: Price matching against other UK retailers, in-store or online, including prices after discount codes. They’ve also extended this post-purchase, meaning Currys customers have a 14-day window in which, should the price of their purchased product decrease at Currys or any other retailer, they will be refunded the difference.
Domino’s
Deals: Offering great value to customers with deals designed for friends and families coming together over the festive period.
John Lewis
Prices: Launched Black Friday offers earlier this year to help customers spread the cost of Christmas.
Delivery: Free delivery over £50, free Click & Collect over £30.
Morrisons
Price cutting: Cut the price of 58 popular festive items such as stuffing, roast potatoes, cranberry sauce and tin foil. Prices will be locked at their new price until 31st December with Morrisons investing over £4 million in these new price reductions.
Saver products: Up to 40 entry-level products are available in over 500 Morrisons Daily stores including key essentials such as eggs, ham, butter, cheese and mince as well as washing up liquid and toilet roll.
Christmas Café menu: Offering customers an affordable Christmas menu from now until 31st December. Diners can choose from two courses for £10 or three courses for £12. Kids also eat free with the purchase of any adult meal over £4.50 to help families eat out for less.
Sainsbury’s
Value: Invested £118m in lowering prices on hundreds of popular products.
Loyalty cards: Lower prices on over 6,000 products with Nectar. ‘Your Nectar Prices’ initiative offers a set of personalised discounts based on products regularly purchased.
Value range: The Stamford Street range has over 200 products including Christmas products like carrots, potatoes and Apple Pie.
Charity work: Through Nourish the Nation programme with Comic Relief, Sainsbury’s is committing to donating £3 million through customer fundraising, shopping donations and on the Nectar app. 10p per festive sandwich will go to Comic Relief as will profit made from sales of Charity Felt Christmas Tree and decorations, Christmas cards and wrapping paper with the Nourish the Nation logo. Half the money raised will help communities access food before Christmas, with the additional money distributed in the New Year. Donating a further one million fresh meals to support families this winter as part of the King’s Coronation Project.
Spar UK
Donations: Donating £250,000 to FareShare this Christmas to provide meals for those struggling to feed their families. For every £1 SPAR donates, FareShare can provide four meals. That will provide one million meals to SPAR communities around the UK.
Deals: Running promotions every two weeks until Christmas on key festive items.
Charity: Raising money for Marie Curie to raise vital funds for Marie Curie Nurses.
Waitrose
Prices: Invested £100m in lowering the prices of hundreds of products, and continue to work very hard with suppliers to offer great value while delivering high animal welfare standards, fresh produce grown with care and fair deals for farmers.
Deals: Wide range of offers across Christmas products, from mince pies and party food, to Christmas cards and wrapping.
