Responding to the publication of the Make Work Pay: threshold for triggering collective redundancy obligations consultation, Helen Dickinson, Chief Executive of the BRC, said:

“Some of the concerns raised by retailers on collective redundancy thresholds are reflected in these proposals, and we stand ready to engage on this consultation and the code of practice. But we need clear detail, a realistic threshold, and a pragmatic plan that does not pile further pressure on businesses who are already navigating huge, complex change. These changes cannot and must not leave businesses in a perpetual cycle of consultations and instead must deliver tangible benefits for employees and workable processes for employers with plenty of time to prepare. We look forward to getting round the table to ensure we get this right."
