The Scottish Government’s Retail Industry Strategy was published earlier this year, and they subsequently created a Retail Industry Leadership Group to oversee its implementation and the BRC, via the SRC, is a member of the group.

The current focus of work is to understand the skills needs of the industry to form an action plan, the Retail Skills Action Plan. With that in mind, we are keen to hear from members on:

  • What do you consider to be the biggest challenges facing the retail sector at the current time?
  • What do you consider to be the most important skills challenges facing the retail sector here and now – and in what ways are these impacts are playing out?
  • How do you see the retail sector changing over the next five years? And what do you think this will mean for the type of skills required?
  • What do you think should be the main areas of focus for a Retail Skills Action Plan?
  • Any other thoughts on the skills and training landscape in Scotland and how it could be improved would be welcomed.

Members are invited to write to Luiza.gomes@brc.org.uk with their views.
