B&Q’s stance on discrimination

In 2024, 3 years after B&Q began their strategic D&I journey, B&Q’s CEO and Board launched the ‘What We Stand For’ video and statement at their annual leadership conference, making it clear to all that non-inclusive behaviour will not be tolerated at B&Q.

Alignment with the BRC D&I Charter’s Pledges

The BRC Diversity & Inclusion Charter emphasizes creating inclusive workplaces, supporting underrepresented groups, and fostering a culture of equality. The commitment to inclusivity at B&Q is a top down approach, aligned with BRC Diversity & Inclusion Charter Pledge 1, where ‘CEO’s will be accountable for Diversity and Inclusion in our business and will appoint an Executive with ownership for D&I’.

When a CEO actively buys into inclusion, it sets the tone for the entire organization, fostering a culture of belonging, improving collaboration, and empowering colleagues to bring their full selves to work, driving innovation and performance. B&Q’s stance on discrimination demonstrates how retailers can align with the BRC D&I Charter commitments and are working to support a more inclusive and equitable future for colleagues across the industry.
