Ahead of the voluntary phase of the Gender Pay Gap and Menopause Action Plans - introduced through the Employment Rights Act - the government has published guidance for employers. This includes a recommended list of actions employers can take to address the two areas.

The action plans will be introduced for employers with over 250 employees on a voluntary basis from April 2026, becoming mandated from spring 2027.

Employers will have to choose at least one action addressing the gender pay gap, and at least one action aimed at supporting people experiencing menopause.

Reporting against your action plans will also become mandatory in 2027 – and your action plans will be published on the gender pay gap service.

See the full guidance here. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ben.

If your business is considering joining the voluntary phase of the action plans, we would also be interested in hearing your reflections on the process and how impactful you think the plans could be.
