Reference page of the Product Safety Community anonymous questions

Purpose 

This is a record page which lists all the anonymous questions and topics discussed within the Product Safety Community in 2026. 

We encourage Members of the Product Safety Community to share questions anonymously. These questions are then share with community members.

Those who contribute to the questions will receive the collated anonymous answers.

Asbestos Handling 

A member has the following questions... 

  • Are members instructing suppliers to conduct additional asbestos testing on sand product/sand-containing product?
  • Are members conducting additional testing of on-shelf product themselves?
  • In light of some recent guidance are members considering SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) or TEM (Transmission electron microscopy) testing specifically, as opposed to PLM (Polarised Light Microscopy)?
  • Are retailers reviewing or considering ceramic/glassware containing silica, as a potential risk area?
