The Department for Transport (DfT) has published its response to the consultation on ending the sale of new non-zero emission heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).
The consultation was proposing to end sales of new nonzero emission vehicles weighing 3.5 tonnes to 26 tonnes by 2035, and vehicles over 26 tonnes by 2040. Members can find out more details and consult BRC's response over here.
The Government response confirms that the proposal will go ahead, and this also covers HGVs using low carbon fuels, except renewable hydrogen.
At the same time, DfT issued a call for evidence on exemptions to the 2035 phase-out date, which is open until 22 July 2022. Please get in touch and send your feedback to Tom McCarthy tom.mccarthy@brc.org.uk
