BACKGROUND:

In October 2021, a group of UK companies and associations, including BRC and some of our members, supported a joint business statement calling for UK mHREDD legislation. Since this statement was published, there has been progress in the UK campaign, led by a coalition of NGOs and trade unions, for a UK mHREDD law. Over 120,000 members of the public have signed a petition calling for UK mHREDD, and a growing number of MPs and Peers have been engaged on the issue.

In order to continue to build further momentum, BRC supported a letter to the new Prime Minister to call for UK mHREDD. This letter was put together by CSOs including the Business Human Rights Resource Centre, Corporate Justice Coalition, Anti-Slavery International and CAFOD. Much of the wording copies the wording of the 2021 corporate statement.

UPDATE:

The letter has now been sent to the Prime Minister. Find the press release here.
