The Government is changing the IT systems used for importing and exporting products and it is very important your suppliers are reading to avoid disruption.

The current system CHIEF is being replaced by a new one called CDS. From 30 September 2022 all imports will need to be declared on CDS and all exports from 31 March 2023. The feedback from HMRC is that they haven’t seen the anticipated registration for CDS and there are concerns not all importers are ready.

To help we have two pieces of great guidance the first here is a simple guide from our Trade Community Partner Deloitte; it sets out the key changes and where you can get support. The second one here is a Q&A from HMRC which is based on common questions from businesses and should address any individual questions you or your suppliers have.

Don’t forget 30 September is fast approaching so make sure you are ready.
