Here is the latest update from HMRC on customs issues including links to relevant guidance

GVMS

Following some system unavailability in early April the service is live and fully operational.

Full details are available on the GVMS Service Availability page https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-for-the-goods-vehicle-movement-service-service-availability-and-issues/register-for-the-goods-vehicle-movement-service-service-availability-and-issues.

And the wider service page including customs systems can be found here https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/hm-revenue-and-customs-service-availability-and-issues. We encourage businesses to check this page before embarking on any journey.

We have also published new content on goods arriving in the UK where manual declaration is required. This includes situations where goods may have been boarded without a GMR due to system downtime or outages. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/manually-arrive-your-goods-in-the-uk

Safety and Security

UK border checks from July will include a requirement for a declaration on safety and security. More details on how this will work are available in this HMRC presentation https://brc.org.uk/media/679782/beis-customs-working-group-22020407.pdf
