BRC’s Finance Community Showcase 2025
We are excited to welcome BRC members to the highly anticipated Finance Community Showcase 2025 on March 6th!
This event is set to be an invaluable experience, filled with engaging discussions on the finance and payment issues that are currently shaping the retail sector. Senior speakers, policymakers, regulators, and industry experts will be on hand to tackle pressing topics such as first-party fraud, account-to-account transfers, card fees, and the Government’s vision for payments.
Why This Event Matters
This is a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about the progress being made in key policy areas and understand how these developments impact retailers. The event will provide essential insights and offer productive discussions to identify challenges, solutions, and key opportunities. Most importantly, this is your chance to engage directly with decision-makers, ask questions, and ensure your voice is heard!
With many government and regulatory interventions underway, there has never been a better time to stay informed, get involved, and be in the room!
Key Highlights of the Event
First-Party Fraud
The rapid growth of e-commerce has led to an alarming rise in fraud. The City of London Police will join us to discuss the replacement of Action Fraud and how retailers can help shape efforts to combat this increasing problem. The Home Office will outline the government’s efforts in this space and the crucial role retailers play in supporting progress.
Card Fees and Competition
The long-standing burden of rising card fees continues to challenge retailers. The Treasury will update us on the government’s plans to drive competition, resilience, and security in payments as part of the National Payments Vision. The Payment Systems Regulator and Kingfisher will update on the ongoing market review of card fees and discuss fees. True Layer will also discuss how Open Banking must evolve to become a viable alternative to cards to meet retailers' needs.
Not Just for the Finance Community
This event is a must-attend for BRC members working in retail finance and payments and other areas of the industry.
However, if you’re not directly involved in finance, this event serves as a window into the issues affecting retail finance. The issues discussed have a broad impact on all areas of retail: payments, fraud, and card fees affect the viability and success of businesses across the sector. Attending will ensure your company is actively engaged in shaping the solutions to these challenges.
In addition to valuable learning, this event offers a unique opportunity to network with key stakeholders, experts, and fellow retailers. Held at our Covent Garden offices, the day will conclude with a networking drinks session where you can continue discussions and share insights with your peers.
