Our Communities are the mechanism to unlock the value of BRC membership.
They’re free to join for all employees of BRC members - whether a retailer, trade association or associate member.
Think of your BRC membership as a gym membership, and Communities as the cross-trainer, weights bench or pilates class. Only by using the latter will you really harness the benefits of the former.

What do members say about Communities?
I have found the BRC HR Community extremely valuable since starting in my role. The range of offerings provided to us, from networking, to making bold D&I commitments as a sector, to providing real time advice about government policy, is incredibly helpful when navigating the challenging dynamics of being a large employer in the retail/hospitality space. The fact they truly understand and listen to our needs sets them apart.
The BRC HR community has proved really valuable not only for myself but also the wider HR team. A special highlight are a range of online and in person events where you can easily connect with fellow professionals across the retail industry and share views and learnings on all areas of your work. Colleagues in other companies are often happy to continue conversations afterwards and the BRC are really helpful in facilitating these connections and discussions. Supplementing this are various news updates and resource sharing through the BRC team. I highly appreciate the rich discussion the HR community and the BRC ongoingly brings!
Spotting emerging risks and opportunities that arise from legal and regulatory reform is critical to our business. The BRC legal community brings together a collection of leading industry experts to share best practice in addition to influencing key policy makers. The proactive insight the BRC legal community secretariat provides is immeasurable, helping us to meet our strategic goals in a compliant manner.
Especially being a sole in-house lawyer I find the support of the BRC Legal Community very helpful. It is led by Graham Wynn who provides not just knowledge and patience but also a much needed sense of humour in the meetings that he chairs. In particular, I am grateful to the access it provides to bodies such as the CMA and the Home Office that ordinarily I would not get the opportunity to interact with.
The BRC’s Property Community brings real value in providing a safe space for members to discuss new retail property developments, speak to experts and get the latest on government thinking.
“BRC help us plan to implement new regulations and ensure they are practical and workable”
“The BRC’s horizon scanning and regular updates give us great visibility of potential challenges in the supply chain and help to facilitate our planning to stay one step ahead.”
"The Product Safety forum is really well organised with a variety of guest speakers including government departments and NGOs who provide valuable insights on topical matters."
