Agentic AI and the cyber threat

Agentic AI and the evolving cyber threat: what retailers need to know

Following discussion at our recent in-person member meeting, RH-ISAC will lead Agentic Commerce: Strategic Frontiers, Operational Readiness and the Expanding Threat Surface, exploring what the rapid development of AI means in practice for retailer cyber security  and how organisations should be preparing.

We’ll also hear from the NCSC with a timely update on the cyber threat landscape as retailers enter the critical Black Friday and Christmas trading period, including threats to technology systems  in general as well as refrigeration and the actions necessary

Who should attend?

This session will be particularly valuable for people working in:

  • Cyber security and information security

  • IT, technology and digital

  • Risk, resilience and business continuity

  • Fraud and loss prevention

  • Senior roles responsible for understanding the operational implications of AI

You do not need to be an AI specialist. The session is designed for people who need to understand how the technology is developing, where the risks are emerging and what that means for their organisation.

Why now?

Although at different stages in different businesses, AI is moving quickly from experimentation towards systems capable of taking actions on behalf of customers and businesses. That creates significant opportunities for retail, but also introduces new questions around security, identity, access, fraud and the potential attack surface.

At the same time, the weeks around Black Friday and Christmas are business-critical for retailers, making the NCSC threat update especially relevant. The meeting takes place on Thursday 12 November, 14:00 to 15:30 on Teams.

What will you take away?

By the end of the session, attendees should have:

  • A clearer understanding of the cyber security risks of agentic AI and agentic commerce, and what their development could mean for retailers.

  • A better view of the emerging AI threat surface, including the areas security teams should be thinking about now.

  • Practical considerations for operational readiness, helping you identify questions to take back into your own organisation.

  • An up-to-date picture of the cyber threat facing retailers going into the peak Black Friday and Christmas trading period.

  • Greater confidence in the conversations your organisation should be having across cyber, technology, risk and AI governance.

Why attend?

This is an opportunity to step beyond the headlines around AI and focus on the practical implications for retail: what is changing, what should be on your radar and how prepared your business needs to be.

The session was developed in direct response to requests from BRC members for a deeper exploration of AI and cyber security following the previous in-person meeting.

 Free to all BRC members.
