Why UK SRS matters now
The FCA has finalised new rules requiring in-scope listed companies to report against UK SRS S1 and S2 on a comply-or-explain basis for accounting periods beginning on or after 1st January 2027, replacing the existing TCFD-aligned listing rules.
UK SRS S1 and S2 are based on IFRS standards and establish a UK framework for reporting financially material sustainability and climate-related risks and opportunities.
For listed retailers, this makes UK SRS an immediate reporting priority rather than a future consideration. For other retailers, the standards provide an important indication of the direction of UK sustainability reporting and the information increasingly expected across corporate reporting and value chains.
The move from TCFD to UK SRS represents more than a change in reporting requirements. It means greater focus on:
- Forward-looking, financially material sustainability reporting
- Integration of sustainability into core business decision-making
- Increased scrutiny from investors, regulators, and stakeholders
Key takeaways
UK SRS is not just a reporting requirement, it is a strategic enabler. As ESG reporting becomes a core driver of business performance and value creation, organisations that delay risk falling behind.
This retail-focused webinar goes beyond theory to provide practical implementation insight aligned to real-world UK SRS requirements.
You will learn how to:
- Navigate UK SRS S1 & S2 with confidence: Understand the requirements and how sustainability and climate-related risks and opportunities could affect your business.
- Build on existing TCFD reporting: Understand what you can leverage from existing climate disclosures and where UK SRS introduces additional requirements.
- Conduct a robust materiality assessment: Identify what is financially material and prioritise disclosures accordingly.
- Strengthen climate disclosures: Consider scenario analysis, Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and transition planning across complex retail value chains.
- Improve data and controls: Understand how to strengthen the governance and quality of sustainability data across multiple functions.
- Develop a clear implementation roadmap: Identify gaps, prioritise actions and establish clear next steps towards UK SRS readiness.
