Following member contributions, this meeting is to form a BRC statement regarding furniture reform.
Background
BRC responded to the DBT consultation on proposed changes to the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) Regulations in June. You can view the BRC response here.
During the recent Product Safety Insights Forum, members raised concerns about how the transition to a new furniture regulatory framework could be perceived by consumers, potentially leading to unnecessary alarm and increased customer enquiries. Several members are already experiencing questions from customers on this issue.
Following this discussion, the BRC has gathered members' views on the key messages that should be reflected in a statement for media engagement and customer enquiries.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to review the draft BRC statement and discuss any amendments required before it is finalised.
