Halloween Costumes and Communications
Following member contributions, this meeting is to form a BRC statement regarding children's disguise costumes.
Background
The BRC are in the process Flammability Code of Practise for children's disguise costumes.
The updated Code of Practise will:
- Provide further clarification between mandatory and voluntary recommendations in the document.
- Include guidance to address online marketplace and/or online marketplace sellers.
- Potential to ask for distinction within test reports of EN71 Part 2 and BRC requirements (Test House Discussion)
- Possibility of combining these tests to reduce costs for retailers
- Update of references within the Code of Practise
The BRC intend to form a standard BRC media statement to be included in the Code of Practise and to form an updated quotation to be used for BRC media responses in October and in the lead up to Halloween.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to review the draft BRC statement and discuss any amendments required before it is finalised.

Inga has a Masters in chemistry and begun her career working in formulated materials and resin synthesis, and subsequently worked in biocidal regulation monitoring UK and EU regulation.
