The Micro & Emerging Risks Working Group meeting will focus on technical updates, regulatory intelligence and horizon scanning, with contributions from FSA, UKHSA and FSRN colleagues. Please note the meeting will be recorded and transcribed in line with BRC policy.

10:05| SA foodborne disease team updates - Narriman / Linden will be updating us on work priorities, include a presentation/discussion on Campylobacter following the FSA’s March board meeting and have a query on listeria to include.
10:50 | FSA incident updates – Jacqui and her team will be updating us on food
incidents.
11:20 | UKHSA updates - Frieda will be providing an update on the UKHSA food surveys that were completed in March 2026, and also next UKHSA work priorities.
11.45 | FSRN update – Melissa will be presenting an update on F-MIN, initial takeaways from the VTEC (STEC) conference and other work planned from the FSRN in the next 3 years.

13:00 | Introductions for any new members joining
13:05 | FSS/FSA signals / horizon scanning updates – Tina/Matthew from the FSA prevention team and Kasia from FSS will be sharing updates on latest signals/horizon scanning (this will include micro updates).
13:35 | RCA update – Tina will be presenting information on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) work.
13:45 | Additives updates – Adam from the FSA will be giving a readout from the CCFA (Codex Committee on Food Additives).
14:05 | Break - opportunity for members to share horizon scanning/trends/watchouts on the flip boards/post it notes in the room.
14:25 | SPS update/discussions – The FSA will be joining us for an update on SPS. If possible, we have asked for a discussion on the May guidance. We will use any remaining time to discuss impacts from the group for relevant legislation in our table.
15:10 | Food fraud training follow up – following our training with the NFCU in March, we can briefly discuss the BRC role and planning for future food fraud incidents.

- We’ve not yet had detail of the ACMSF horizon scanning event in June, and so I’ve not included any preparation from our side in the agenda this time. But will keep you all posted.
- Marie McIntyre from Newcastle University can join us in July. I’ve noted the below
topics that may be of interest, if you could please confirm interest so I can arrange:- IID in community settings, learnings from past outbreaks, strategies to reduce
pathogen transmission and also a project Food Check to improve food safety
practices. - Emerging threats and pathogen risks.
- The PRISM project for Hepatitis A in strawberries.

- Tim Chandler will provide a written update on Food Contact Material (FCM) issues. If
one has specific queries, please do share. - Ben Pye from the National Food Crime Unit (NFCU) will join us in July to update us on
the NFCU Control Strategy for 26/27, and we can follow up on discussions on future
learnings like for contracts, as well as our discussions on the BRC role/planning for
future food fraud incidents. - NLR: we are monitoring follow up developments and will be in touch with relevant
members.
