All Product Safety Community meetings are followed by a round-up of topics, regulations and notices for you to be made aware of. This is your way of learning about what is taking place within your community quickly in a quick overview.

Topics for May's Meeting Include:

EU Detergents Regulation with Defra

Defra will join joining to discuss the new EU Detergents Regulation. The session will provide an overview of the regulatory changes, policy context and likely timelines, alongside a discussion of the potential implications for retailers and suppliers placing detergent products on the EU market. 

RoSPA Update 

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents will provide an update on their priorities for 2026 as well as current ongoing projects. 

Point-of-Sale Claim Qualifiers with CTPA 

The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association will provide a presentation for retailers on the responsibilities for ensuring claims compliance.

Asbestos [TBC]

Following the recent product safety alert from OPSS regarding asbestos in children's toys, we aim to do a feature around asbestos and the new methods recommended by OPSS for asbestos testing requirements.

    Policy Adviser - Retail Products

    Inga manages the Product Safety Community and has recently joined the organisation having worked in the chemical industry. Inga has a Masters in chemistry and begun her career working in formulated materials and resin synthesis, and subsequently worked in biocidal regulation monitoring UK and EU regulation. She is engaged with key government departments, and is passionate about helping retailers and ensuring market product safety.
