The BRC has been contacted this week by the Office for Equalities and Opportunities (OEO) regarding the increased obligations in the Employment Rights Act to protect workers against sexual harassment.

Following interventions from the BRC, the OEO has confirmed that the Equality and Human Rights Commission and Acas will be sharing guidance in advance of the new obligation to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment.

The guidance will set out example scenarios employers may face following the Employment Rights Act provisions on sexual harassment that will come into force in October.

They have asked us to provide any example scenarios that would be useful for the guidance to consider to help employers understand how the new obligations will work in practice.

The deadline for sharing feedback is midday Friday 1st May. You are welcome to share either written feedback, or contact Cara to set up a call to discuss.
