Retailer Feedback on Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs)
As part of the Tackling Retail Crime Together What Works Well strand, we’re gathering feedback from retailers on the use of Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) to tackle prolific shoplifters. We’d welcome your experiences and views on how effective they are and what could be improved.
- Experience: Has your organisation ever supported a police application for a CBO? If so, what was your experience? If not, what has prevented you from getting involved?
- Effectiveness: Do you think CBOs deter prolific shoplifters? Have you seen a reduction in offending following a CBO?
- Conditions: What conditions should CBOs include for prolific shoplifters? Should they restrict offenders from entering certain shops or shopping centres?
- Enforcement: Are CBOs and breaches of CBOs enforced effectively? What changes to legislation, policy or enforcement would make them more effective?
