BRC | Code of Practise - The Flammability Safety of Children's Disguise Costume | Update June 2026

The BRC Code of Practice for the Flammability of Children's Disguise Costumes has been updated to provide clearer and more practical guidance for retailers and suppliers.

The revised Code clarifies the distinction between mandatory requirements and voluntary recommendations, updates references, and includes guidance relevant to online marketplaces and online sellers.

The revised Code also seeks to improve transparency around testing and reporting requirements, while supporting a consistent industry approach to costume safety, flammability testing, and external communications.
