While the cost of living crisis is the biggest economic issue we face today, climate change remains the most important long-term challenge of our generation. Soaring energy prices serve only to underline the importance of reducing our energy use and moving towards more sustainable practices. So while many retailers are finding ways to cut costs to protect their customers, cutting back on our sustainability commitments would be a false economy.

This year’s Climate Action Week (17-21 October) will offer workshops and events to help members navigate the environmental challenge despite the difficult trading conditions.

Join us for a week of:

  • Knowledge-building webinars on cutting emissions, saving energy and cutting costs
  • Learning from our Climate Action Showcase leaders
  • Insights on greening transport via the launch of our partner reports
  • Understanding how to move consumers from the sustainable choices they want to make to the ones we need them to make
  • Understanding how investors use climate information for decision making (invite only)

Our Climate Action Showcase entrants will join us for a reception on 20 October (invitation only) to celebrate their ground-breaking climate projects and their best practice will be used over coming weeks to help other members learn about the opportunities and challenges.

Reports launched during the week with partners Evri and Bearing Point will show how retailers have reduced final mile emissions and how shipping and rail freight can enable more efficient and greener transportation. We will also launch the outcomes of consumer research with OC&C Strategy on the sustainable choices that consumers are willing to make versus the choices that we need them to make and how we bridge the gap.

Our CEO call on 18 October (invitation only) will be 'Climate Action – the Investor and Political Perspective'. It will air the latest from the Government climate related activity and hear from investors KRR and Dean Street Capital on what they are looking for and how they assess it in investment decision making.
