Summary

The ShopKind campaign is uniting the retail sector to tackle violence and abuse against shopworkers by asking people to ShopKind when in stores. ShopKind is a campaign endorsed by the Home Office.

The ShopKind campaign aims to:

  • Encourage positive behaviours in shops

  • Acknowledge the important role of shopworkers

  • Highlight the scale and impact of violence and abuse against shopworkers

Helen Dickinson OBE, Chief Executive of the British Retail Consortium, is a #ShopKind Champion, joining voices from across the retail industry, policing community, Government and Parliament.

On the launch, Helen said: “As retail crime continues to climb, #ShopKind remains an extremely important campaign. No one should go to work fearing for their safety, yet our most recent crime survey showed that there were a shocking 450 incidents of violence and abuse against our retail colleagues every single day. People in retail are there to look after customers, help them find what they need, keep shelves stocked and deliver goods, being threatened or assaulted must not be part of the job. We remind customers to shop kind and be respectful and considerate to retail workers and fellow customers.

If you have questions about the ShopKind campaign or would like to be added to the ShopKind Campaign mailing list, please contact Edward Woodall, ACS Government Relations Director, via Edward.woodall@acs.org.uk. The mailing list will only be used to provide updates on the #shopkind communications campaign.
