Helping you ensure the products you sell are safe to consumers and comply to regulations
At the heart of retail is the need to provide customers with safe, compliant products that meet their requirements. Failing to do so can be catastrophic, physically, financially and reputationally.
Focusing on non-food, the Product Safety Community works closely with members to increase their understanding of issues that relate to the safety of non-food products. We also use our substantial membership base to influence policy and lobby for positive change within retail.
Objectives
Sharing latest insight on all product safety regulation
Keep members informed on product safety regulation across non‑food sectors including toys, furniture, cosmetics, electricals, batteries, machinery, and tobacco and vaping products.
Support implementation of major regulatory change, including the Product Regulation and Metrology framework, the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, and online marketplace obligations.
Promote clear and compliant consumer information, including product safety, performance, and labelling for energy and water efficiency.

The BRC continues to do an excellent job of supporting the retail sector and its individual members on a wide variety of issues.

Adds a lot to our business, great sounding board, very well connected and able to influence.

A positive and considered voice for our industry, useful learning/ business-focused communities that help our team in their roles, and data insights that help us benchmark our performance.

"The Product Safety forum is really well organised with a variety of guest speakers including government departments and NGOs who provide valuable insights on topical matters."
