We were pleased to have Melissa Antoniou-Kourounioti join us from the Food Safety Research Network (FSRN), part of Quadram Institute, to share an update on F-MIN, the Food Microbiology Intelligence Network.

The model is now in its second year of piloting, and valuable insights were shared on the benefits of pooling anonymised microbiology data across businesses to enable earlier identification of risks, such as contamination patterns. The case studies and graphics showing the benefits of the model were particularly compelling and demonstration of the benefits of collaboration for insights to support preventive action and a proactive approach to food safety across the supply chain.

The BRC is very pleased to see this initiative reach this stage, having originally emerged as an idea raised within our Microbiology Working Group.
