In the last weeks, Government launched a number of employment rights consultation:

  1. 1)      Workplace Monitoring Technologies

Government launched a consultation on what further steps government should take in relation to the introduction and adaptation of Workplace Monitoring Technologies (WMT). The consultation closes on 30 September 2026.

BRC has been engaging with government on these proposals since Summer 2025 and is looking to respond to the consultation. We will be seeking member views over the coming weeks. Initially, please let Ben (ben.george@brc.org.uk) know if you are interested in feeding into a BRC response by COP on 04 September.

  1. 2)      Employment Rights for Unpaid Carers and Parents of Seriously Ill Children

The government have launched their consultation on the employment rights that are available to people with unpaid caring responsibilities and parents who have a seriously ill child. This consultation will close on 1 September 2026.

  1. 3)      Time Off for Public Duties

The government have launched a consultation to seek views on proposed changes to the list of public duties eligible for time off work. The consultation closes on 04 September.

  1. 4)      Holiday Pay Compliance and Enforcement

The government is consulting on its proposed approach to holiday pay compliance and enforcement which will be managed by the Fair Work Agency. The consultation closes on 22 September.
