The British Retail Consortium (BRC), the leading trade association for UK retail, is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Head of Commercial Partnerships to join our team.
As Head of Commercial Partnerships, you will play a key leadership role within our Commercial Team, responsible for identifying, securing, and managing strategic partnerships that generate sustainable income for the BRC. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will lead the team, overseeing the development of commercial strategies, associate membership propositions, and high-profile retail events. The ideal candidate will be able to create win-win-win solutions for the BRC, our commercial partners, and our retail members, ensuring long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.

In this role, you will:
- Lead and deliver the Associate Membership and Commercial Partnership strategy to maximise income and profit for the BRC.
- Identify, develop, and nurture strategic commercial partnerships that align with the BRC’s goals and priorities.
- Build a robust pipeline of commercial opportunities and manage relationships with existing and prospective partners.
- Oversee the successful execution of partner activities, events, and marketing content that deliver thought-leadership and value to our retail members.
- Collaborate with internal experts across the organisation to shape and articulate compelling partnership propositions.
- Provide regular reporting on commercial performance, income targets, and partnership outcomes to the Commercial Director and Executive Team.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team, ensuring they meet financial targets and achieve personal development goals.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in developing, managing, and nurturing successful commercial partnerships.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives from inception to delivery.
- A track record of building and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders and partners.
- Experience in content marketing and event management, with a focus on delivering value to partners and members.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex partnership opportunities.
- Experience using CRM systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics), web-based email software (such as ClickDimensions), and website CMS platforms.
- A leadership mindset, with experience in managing and motivating teams to achieve shared objectives.
