Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for the retail market and a knack for turning data into meaningful insights? Join us at the British Retail Consortium (BRC) as a Senior Analyst and play a crucial role in understanding retail trends and shaping the narrative of the retail industry for our members, the media and with UK governments. If you're organised, methodical, and ready to ensure the BRC remains the authoritative voice on critical retail issues, we want to hear from you!

In this role, you will:

  • Develop reports, dashboards, blogs, articles, and presentations that provide multiple touchpoints through which our diverse member businesses can access relevant insights.
  • Gather and assess member feedback on their current and future requirements to support decisions on product development, and to embed BRC outputs in member processes.
  • Conduct data analysis and use industry knowledge to write compelling and robust narratives of the industry, the implications for members, and expectations for the future.
  • Work with other BRC departments to draft press releases that present BRC standards of quality analysis and as the voice of retail.
  • Manage the design and delivery of member surveys and benchmarks, ensuring they are easy to complete and justify members’ time completing them.
  • Develop and execute a plan to recruit and retain members into surveys and benchmarks so that response rates continue to improve.
  • Take research and understanding of the retail market to create thought leadership content that helps support BRC’s reputation as a thought leader.
  • Manage third-party suppliers to ensure data is accurate and delivered on time and development plans are implemented.
  • Manage inbound enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure all contacts are correctly registered on CRM and that communications and meetings are tracked.

To be successful in this role, you will HAVE:

  • Strong analytical skills to identify data needs, gather data from various sources, and produce valuable insights for members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience in PowerBI, Tableau or Qikview; and SQL, VBA, Python, R, M or SAS.
  • A good understanding of the retail market, including knowledge of key data sources.
  • Experience in managing the end-to-end process of designing an insight publication or solution.
  • Experience in communicating complex data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills for managing multiple projects, tracking progress, and ensuring that all activities are well-documented and reported.
  • Desirable skills: Experience in project management methodologies such as Scrum, Agile, or Prince2.
