- Working with its members and a major UK testing laboratory the BRC has produced a specification for use on textile face coverings.
- It's available free for all to use
- Its aimed at retailers and manufacturers of face coverings.
- It’s for the type of face-covering asked to be worn by the general public when outside and on public transport
- It's designed to provide a better performance than a cut-up t-shirt or scarf
- It is not PPE but helps to prevent the spread of covid 19 by the wearer
- This specification was created at the request of BRC members and was designed to meet the following criteria:
- Had to be able to use readily available textile testing methods and test equipment
- Should not impact on the important testing of PPE and medical devices
- Should keep testing lead times and costs to a minimum
