The latest on the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme
What do business need to know for the ESOS Phase 4?
ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for qualifying organisations within the UK.
Administered by the Environment Agency, ESOS requires eligible organisations to review their energy use every 4 years, which include audits of energy used in buildings, industrial processes and transport.
Phase 4 is now underway with the first reporting deadline being 5th December 2024 – just 6 months after the Phase 3 reporting deadline.
Unlike previous phases of ESOS, which required only one compliance submission every four years, businesses will now need to provide an annual progress report to the Environment Agency (EA).
The responsible undertaking is now required to set an action plan for future energy saving measures.
The action plan must be signed off by a board level director (or equivalent) and submitted via the compliance notification system by the action plan deadline, which is 5th December 2024.
