With all of the confusion and uncertainty around Brexit and the looming General Election, we sat down with BRC Europe and International Expert William Bain, as MHA Indirect Tax Director John Rossiter, and MHA Assistant Customs Manager Andrew Thurston to discuss the outlook for British Retailers.

A Withdrawal Agreement has now been established between the EU and the UK Government, providing much more detail on what to expect after Brexit takes place. However, the upcoming General Election has the potential to change the situation dramatically, with a new deal, no deal, revoking article 50, and another referendum all still on the table depending on the result.

William, John and Andrew discussed the VAT and Indirect Tax outcomes, especially for movement of goods which involves Northern Ireland, which was a point of particular interest for viewers. The potential change of status for these goods will be of great importance to retailers, and the in depth analysis of different potential cases was invaluable.
